HOW WE
STARTED

In 1984, John Gaylor realized the need for an electrical contractor that encouraged open competition and a free-enterprise approach to construction based on merit. John was determined to provide first-class service and outstanding job performance for clients. For employees, he was intent on delivering the best wages and benefits, quality equipment, and continued education and training. These business ideals and values laid the solid foundation for what became Gaylor Electric.

GOODRICH

Chief Executive Officer

Chuck Goodrich serves as the CEO of Gaylor Electric, one of the largest merit-shop electrical firms in the country. As a national award-winning electrical design-build contractor, Gaylor Electric employs more than 2,000 dedicated and highly skilled men and women and operates 11 offices in six states across the United States.

Chuck began his career with Gaylor Electric as an intern during the summers of 1991 and 1992. After graduating from Purdue University with a B.S. in Building Construction Management, he worked for a large national contractor before returning to Gaylor Electric. He subsequently moved up the ranks to a variety of key leadership positions within the company. In November of 2014, Chuck was ultimately named as President. As a proven leader, he inspires his employees with his high-energy, high-performance business style. During his tenure, Gaylor Electric has developed more than 1,500 jobs.

As a leader in the business community, Chuck serves on the Executive Committee as past chairman of the Board of Directors for National Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC); is past chairman and current board member of the Riverview Health Foundation and past chair and currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Purdue Construction Advisory Council for Building Construction Management. Chuck has a lifelong passion for workforce development, and he is member of the Indiana Department of Workforce Development’s Region 5 Workforce Development Board. Also serves as Chair of David’s Well. Over the years, Chuck has been recognized for his professional leadership and philanthropic passion by winning the James J. Leonard Memorial Award, Businessperson of the Year for the City of Noblesville, the ABC Outstanding Chapter Support Award, the Gaylor Electric Optimist Award, and serves as Chair of David’s Well.

As an Indiana State Representative, Chuck Goodrich of Noblesville, Indiana was first elected to serve the constituents of House District 29 in 2018. Since his election, Chuck has gone on to author/co-authored several bills, many of which have been signed into law by Governor Holcomb. Chuck lives in Noblesville, Indiana, with his wife, Tricia of 30 years. They have four adult children. The family is active both in the Noblesville community and members of White River Christian Church. His favorite things to do during his free time are spending quality time with his wife and kids, playing golf, and rooting for the Indianapolis Colts and Purdue Boilermakers.

On January 22, 2024, Chuck named Jim Crews to be the new President of Gaylor Electric. Moving his responsibilities of company President frees up Chuck in his campaign to win the US Congressional seat in the 2024 primary, and then general election to represent the 5th Congressional District of Indiana. Chuck desires to implement groundbreaking legislation that can increase educational opportunities and eliminate generational poverty!

JIM
CREWS

President

Jim became Gaylor Electric’s new President on January 22, 2024. This makes him only the third President in the company’s 40-year history. After graduating from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business, with a B.S. in accounting, Jim immersed himself in the industrial/manufacturing world of business. Earning roles such as Vice President of Operations and Vice President of Finance early in his career – Jim soon earned a seat on the Board of Directors for the Indianapolis Young Presidents Organization, which led to his “first” stint with Gaylor Electric from 1999-2002.

With a vision of exponential growth, former president, John Gaylor, recognized Jim as the correct individual to successfully structure the accounting department in preparation for what was to come. Jim has always fostered a team environment with a focus on meeting goals and requirements by working collaboratively regardless of job title, position, or tenure.

In 2014 Jim returned to Gaylor Electric to serve as the Chief Financial Officer. During his years as CFO Gaylor Electric enjoyed their greatest years of growth and expansion. Jim continues to lead by example and values inspiring young talent to reach their goals. He also serves on various boards of directors of both private and civic organizations.

TERA
KLUTZ

Chief Financial Officer

Bringing a distinguished legacy of financial leadership, Tera Klutz steps into the role of Chief Financial Officer at Gaylor Electric with a resounding commitment to energize the company's future success. As the 57th Indiana Auditor of State and trailblazing CPA to assume the position of Chief Financial Officer for the state, Klutz has honed her expertise in navigating complex financial landscapes.

Having been appointed by Indiana Governor Eric J. Holcomb in 2017 and securing re-election in both 2018 and 2022, Klutz has demonstrated unwavering dedication in the public sector. Notably, she pioneered the role of State Comptroller for Indiana, reshaping the financial transparency landscape through innovative initiatives like the Indiana Transparency Portal.

Prior to her venture into the private sector with Gaylor Electric, Klutz distinguished herself as the Auditor of the Year in 2016 during her tenure as County Auditor in Allen County. There, she streamlined operations, reduced debt, and maintained fiscal equilibrium, earning accolades for her unwavering commitment to financial integrity. Fresh out of college Klutz worked in public accounting for PwC and Crowe, where she concentrated on audits of manufacturing facilities.

Joining the Gaylor Electric team in December 2023, Tera Klutz eagerly anticipates leveraging her financial acumen as the new CFO. Her strategic insights, dedication to fiscal excellence, and vision for fostering growth aligns with the company's vision for sustained success.

FORT

Chief Values Officer

At Gaylor Electric, we believe our core values define who we are as a company. Michael’s career has always had a strong emphasis on teaching, training, and coaching. This background has proven to be instrumental in helping Gaylor Electric be an industry leader in recognizing the importance of continual personnel development and growth for all employees. Over his career, he has had a passion for helping develop the discipline of ethical business values instruction within the construction industry. The Values Department reports directly to the President/CEO and serves the best interests of the entire organization.

JUSTIN
BAKER

Chief Operating Officer of Business Excellence

As a Purdue University graduate, Justin began working for Gaylor Electric shortly after earning a distinguished degree from the School of Building Construction Management. Moving on to complete the ABC Apprenticeship Program, he demonstrated his desire to learn, develop, and grow his construction career in his early years with the organization. During his first 10 years at Gaylor Electric, Justin was based out of Indianapolis but traveled throughout the country managing many of Gaylor Electric’s largest, most complex projects. Justin’s experience, drive, and construction insight advanced him from project manager, location manager, to Southeast Executive Vice-president. For over 20 years, Justin has continuously demonstrated Gaylor’s values and standards at the highest levels, while leading enthusiastically in all his roles. Now, as appointed Chief Operating Officer of Business Excellence, Justin supports all corporate operation departments, along with Gaylor Electric’s strategic Engineering & Manufacturing sector. Justin will continue to use his talents and leadership to promote technology and innovation, while cultivating a company culture that offers winning opportunities for all people. Outside of Gaylor Electric, Justin serves on the board of directors for the Carolina Electrical Contractors Association and is greatly involved with Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). Earning the title of ABC’s National Young Professional of the Year in 2017, he continues to serve on the board of directors for ABC Carolinas and ABC Carolinas Foundation for workforce development.

ROB
GRIFFITH

Chief Operating Officer of Performance Excellence

Rob began his electrical career journey as a 12-year-old working after school and during summers in the family business – Griffith Electric, Inc. After this invaluable on-the-job training, Rob completed degrees from Purdue University in Organizational Leadership and Supervision, Ivy Tech in Design Technology, Vincennes University in Construction Technology, completed the 4-year ABC Electrical Apprentice program, and holds Master Electrician Licenses in several states. Rob joined Gaylor Electric in 2009 after merging his business with Gaylor, ascending from positions as Project Manager, Vice President, Executive Vice President to being named COO in 2020. As Chief Operating Officer of Performance Excellence, Rob leads Gaylor Electric’s construction teams encompassing ten locations and hundreds of projects throughout the United States. He embraces this position to lead, mentor and motivate the men and women who embody the Gaylor Electric mission of delivering consistent excellence to customers through innovation, quality, and daily performance. Rob’s enthusiastic leadership style is marked by his efforts to encourage everyone around him to reach their highest professional and personal potential through education and experience. He is a champion of professional development with the Associated Builders and Contractors as past Chair of the Indiana Apprentice Trust and will serve as Chair for the ABC Indiana/Kentucky Chapter Board in 2024.

RALPH

Risk Manager

As a dynamic leader at Gaylor Electric, Jarrod Ralph oversees several key departments of the organization, including HR, Safety, Risk, and Relationship Dynamics. With a primary focus on ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all employees, Jarrod's leadership as the Risk Manager is characterized by his commitment to advocacy and genuine care for people.

Jarrod is a seasoned professional, holding a Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University and a Juris Doctorate from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. His commitment to industry excellence is further highlighted by his designation as an OSHA Authorized Construction Trainer.

Beyond his commitment to health & safety, Jarrod plays a fundamental role in shaping Gaylor Electric's corporate culture. He actively promotes innovative safety and human resource policies that reflect the company's values, and oversees the corporate Risk Management Department, where he manages Regulatory Compliance and Contracts.

Jarrod's broad experience equips him with a unique perspective on the construction industry, enabling him to identify opportunities and effectively mitigate potential risks. His adept handling of various situations showcases his elite competence in navigating challenges within the industry. Jarrod Ralph is a leader who combines expertise, knowledge, and a strategic mindset to ensure the success and well-being of both the company and its employees.

BRYANT

Director of Gaylor University

After spending 20 years in public education as a teacher and principal, Jeff Bryant joined Gaylor Electric in 2019 to lead in the development of our people. After graduating from Purdue University in 1999, Jeff continued his education at Indiana Wesleyan University, where he received a master’s degree and his principal’s licensure certification in 2006. It is this commitment to lifelong learning that has guided Jeff’s career as he has continually led efforts to grow and develop a wide range of people from unique backgrounds. It is Jeff’s forward-thinking, innovative approach to learning and development that has fit seamlessly to the current growth and expansion of Gaylor Electric. In over 20 years as an education leader, Jeff has developed a deep commitment to his “why”. He believes that when authentic, intentional learning opportunities are provided, people grow personally and professionally leading to the enrichment of the families and communities we serve. Jeff serves on the Associated Builders and Contractors’ Indiana/Kentucky Apprenticeship Board as a Trustee, where he works to promote the merit shop philosophy through education.

TOM
HEADLEE

Director of National Service

Tom started in the construction industry over 30 years ago upon graduating from the University of North Carolina, at Chapel Hill. Working in several different areas of the construction industry throughout his career, Tom spent 18 years at Watson Electrical Construction Co., LLC ending his tenure at Watson as the President/COO. Now, as a strategic hire for the growth and development of Gaylor Electric’s national service department, Tom brings a wide range of knowledge, leadership, and construction experience to overseeing electrical service teams located across the country. Outside of Gaylor Electric, Tom is an active ABC member, spending 12 years on the local chapter board, including Chairman in 2010 and Treasurer for 3 years. During that time, Tom was on the National Board of ABC for 7 years. Additionally, he served 3 years on the North Carolina State Building Commission.

WAYNE
MANWARING

Vice President of Capital Innovation & Advancement

Wayne Manwaring’s commitment to Gaylor Electric spans over three decades, and stands as a testament to organizational loyalty, growth, and dedication. Wayne began his journey with the company as a high-school graduate, starting as a Helper in the field. Soon after, he enrolled into the 4-year ABC Electrical Apprentice program, marking the beginning of a transformative career path.

Ascending through various roles, Wayne's trajectory includes positions such as Field Supervisor, General Superintendent, Engineering & Fabrication Manager, and Vice President of Engineering & Innovation. This multifaceted experience, rooted in years of hands-on field knowledge, showcased Wayne's natural ability to identify avenues for improving the construction process.

In 2023, Wayne undertook a pivotal role as the Vice President of Capital Innovation & Advancement, where his focus shifted towards national expansion. In this capacity, he spearheads initiatives involving property acquisition, real estate development, and facility management, driving the company's growth on a grand scale.

Wayne's professional journey has been distinguished by his dedication to education, personal development, and mentorship. His story serves as an inspiration, illustrating how a construction job can evolve into an executive career.

JACK
HINEMAN

Vice President of Business Intelligence

With a degree from Purdue University in Computer Technology, Jack began his career in Information Technology consulting, advancing from a desktop support role to a Senior Project Manager. In 2016, Jack joined the Gaylor Electric team serving as the Network Administrator and quickly became a student of the company. Through gaining a deep understanding of cost accounting, payroll, job cost, and several other crucial areas of the business, Jack developed a passion for analyzing and organizing company data.

In 2018, Jack’s role evolved into a sole focus on Business Intelligence and analytics. With the ability to develop leading-edge reports and visualizations, Jack was able to reveal a story within our data that reinforced existing theories and help to cultivate new insights regarding Gaylor Electric’s future.

In his role as Vice President of Business Intelligence, Jack will continue to study the company and uncover new insights through advanced data analytics. Jack’s mission is to lead a data-driven culture within our organization while providing means to effectively digest valuable insights that will assist Gaylor Electric in making more intentional business decisions.

JOE
MEADORS

Vice President of Information Services

Joe Meadors joined Gaylor Electric in 2018. His career has been a dual-facing blend of education and technology. He is a Butler University graduate in Business Education and holds a master’s degree in technology education from Indiana University along with holding 12 technical certifications that include cyber security, cloud technology, and networking.

He has served more than 20 years in technology leadership roles across many industries including hospital and healthcare, K-12 education, post-secondary education, and commercial construction.

Joe also serves as a volunteer one-on-one adult mentor to middle-manager professionals across the country seeking to grow their careers and has served as an IT instructor in adjunct faculty roles for several colleges and universities.

A pragmatic and engaging leader, as well as a high-level collaborator, Joe believes deeply that teamwork is essential for success both within the Information Services team and within the complete business environment.

ED
DROEGER

Assistant to the President

Ed joined Gaylor Electric in 2022 as an executive to help lead the company and mentor others within the organization. Ed has always enjoyed helping people and doing all he can to make our world a better place. Gaylor shares this idea of changing the world one person at a time, so it was the perfect fit. Ed started his journey in the electrical construction industry in 1978 with one of the largest contractors in the country. He learned estimating skills and became Estimating Manager for the Eastern regional office in 1981. During this time, he worked with John Gaylor and built a trusted relationship with him. As John ventured out to start Gaylor Electric in 1984, Ed was there to support him. In 1984 Ed took a different path with a sales position with a large national distributor and was one of the nation’s top salespersons in his first full year of 1985. Ed continued his career in sales over the next 30+ years and always worked closely with Gaylor Electric. In 2004 Ed started his own successful electrical supply company in the Indianapolis market, which continues to thrive today. He has served on various boards, youth ministry organizations, and is very involved in his local community.
